New contribution to Totally Novel on writing, update on Sweet Sixteen Killer

Image
I've been pretty quiet lately on the blog, sorry about that. I've been laying mostly low, though I did recently begin contributing to a new website for writers and readers called Totally Novel. My first contribution for members of the site is a post I titled 3 things that prevented me from writing a novel. To read the post, sign up for a free trial. Take a look around and if you don't wanna stay, don't renew membership. That said, it's a pretty cool effort being put together by a former Google+ member like myself. As a matter of fact there are several members on the site from the old Google+ days. (Side note: there is a free membership option)
I will be contributing to the Totally Novel blog bi-monthly for now. My next addition will be in August. I'm super excited for the site and I hope you can come join us and become a part of the groups, forums, blog, workshops, and more.
All that said, I haven't given up here. This is still my primary site and blog. 👊

Prologue of Blistering Pines, and how I killed my burnout

Image
First off, if you're reading this, cool. Thanks. Last week I'd started work on a new chapter for our little horror story Night Aggressions which we've been slowly releasing at the Emerald Dragon Tales blog. But only a few paragraphs in, I could tell I was writing thin. Something was off.

I wasn't feeling it.

I tried to force it, but it felt like I was forcing it, and you know how that writing reads. So I stopped. I told myself I'd get back to it this week. Well, I still wasn't feeling it on my first work night this week, so I skipped it and did other stuff. Today, I decided to write something else to get the mojo back. So I wrote this prologue to a story that's been brewing in my head recently. I hope you like it, and appreciate it as much as I do because it allowed me to get back into the game and finish the Night Aggressions chapter I was working on.
About Blistering Pines I'm trying to peg this as a modern western. It revolves around a woman who reti…

On and On and On by ABBA

Image
I've always been a sucker for cheesy ABBA songs. And I just discovered this great song by ABBA, On and On and On. As someone who writes lyrics, I'm loving the lyrical phrasing at times in this. Such a great song and addictive. And now it will be stuck in your head, too!

What do you think?

Epic fail in Ghost Recon Wildlands gameplay with a friend

Back in the Google+ days, I created a Collection called "Gaming ya'll" and as Google+ for consumers was shuttering down, I moved that collection along with others over to this blog. Mostly I've been neglecting my gaming collection, but I'm gonna try and be better and try to put some original content on here. And today is no exception. The above video is from a gaming session with a buddy of mine. We've been playing through Ghost Recon Wildlands on Xbox One. It's a lot of fun to do so co-op.

This particular video I made from a glitch we experienced where a guy we were supposed to both capture and interrogate disappeared in my hands. For real. It failed the mission for us and everything. Check it out.

Let me know if you wanna see more gaming videos like this from our gaming sessions. I enjoy making little videos out of gaming clips like this, so I hope you enjoy watching them.
