I've started a Telegram channel for my Babylon Tales writing. I'll use it kinda like an interactive email newsletter (comments enabled on Broadcast messages). Consider joining us in Telegram!

Heroine and Nemesis.

Heroine and Nemesis. I recently had some major breakthroughs with my detective series of novellas. And it all started with me finally discovering my nemesis to pair with my heroine. His name is Renoir. And I even have some sweet visual inspiration to share. Behold... the heroine and her nemesis! #amwriting

Writing #fakenews article for my main character

Image
Writing #fakenews article for my main character You should try it, it's kinda fun. Now, it may totally not work for your character, unless they recently won the Garden of the Month award or something. But my main character happens to be a beast in the policing world, and I have a subplot I've been working on where she finally gives an in-depth interview about herself to a young reporter. Luckily, in my little crime world of Babylon (a fictional city all my own), there's a newspaper called the Babylonian Chronicle so this sort of thing fits in nicely. Anyone who made it here looking for Facebook and #fakenews discussions, sorry.... not my thing. Move it along...

Forever Young (Rod Stewart cover) by Me

Forever Young (Rod Stewart cover) by Me I don't record my voice often. Rare. Very rare. Hugely rare. Singing anyway. But recently, I did a live read/sing through of a musical and was told by many folks who came that I should sing more. So, I'm giving that a try. Recorded this today, messing around mostly. It's an acapella duet with myself, singing Rod Stewart's classic ditty Forever Young. CLASSIC, I tell ya. Well, maybe not my version, but Rod's sure is classic. #music   https://www.soundtrap.com/play/PkjYSfHdSB2zFcvNHhthHQ/forever-young-rod-stewart-cover/?utm_source=soundtrap&utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=googleplus

Superwoman by Alicia Keys

Superwoman by Alicia Keys This is a song I only recently discovered. And yes, it is one of a few anthems for my main character this #nanowrimo. And yes, I did say ANTHEM. Your character needs ANTHEMS. The songs that speak so truthfully to her that you listen to it and instantly think of her. And yes, I do refer to my characters with pronouns and by their name as if they are real people. Because I have to believe they are real, otherwise my readers never will. Any rate... enjoy this song as much as I do or more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdZL-g8jI9o

Hunting for that outline I wrote in pen and ink, thank the gods for cloud storage, and other nuggets

Image
Hunting for that outline I wrote in pen and ink, thank the gods for cloud storage, and other nuggets So, several years ago I wrote an outline for the very story I'm currently working on for #NaNoWriMo. Unfortunately, I wrote it on pen and paper, which wasn't uncommon at the time. I had yet to transfer it to digital format and so it is somewhere among boxes and tubs of things in our garage (most likely). This afternoon my wife and I (with a little help from our wee boy) attempted to find that 1-page or so outline. I've been missing it, because I can't recall every little detail about my story, which is frustrating, because know I'm gonna leave an important detail out that I liked. It's not that I can't write it, it's just that I remember being very satisfied with what I had, which means I'll likely leave out something really cool. The results of digging around this afternoon resulted in finding many things, often older than the outline itself. A few i

Yesterday's chapter was brought to you by the number ONE

Yesterday's chapter was brought to you by the number ONE My writing yesterday resulted in the number one being the most used word in the chapter. And no, it wasn't chapter one, either. Intriguing. #nanowrimo

Mercedes Masterson, PI I'm a sucker for visual inspiration. Much in the same way with music. Here's a little visual inspiration for my project this #NaNoWriMo.

Words were written.

Words were written. 905 to be precise. Not the amount I wanted, but the content I deserved. How did you fair on Day 1 of #nanowrimo ?
