New contribution to Totally Novel on writing, update on Sweet Sixteen Killer

I've been pretty quiet lately on the blog, sorry about that. I've been laying mostly low, though I did recently begin contributing to a new website for writers and readers called Totally Novel. My first contribution for members of the site is a post I titled 3 things that prevented me from writing a novel. To read the post, sign up for a free trial. Take a look around and if you don't wanna stay, don't renew membership. That said, it's a pretty cool effort being put together by a former Google+ member like myself. As a matter of fact there are several members on the site from the old Google+ days. (Side note: there is a free membership option)
I will be contributing to the Totally Novel blog bi-monthly for now. My next addition will be in August. I'm super excited for the site and I hope you can come join us and become a part of the groups, forums, blog, workshops, and more.
All that said, I haven't given up here. This is still my primary site and blog. 👊

Musical Writing Prompt #1

I'm starting something new. I'll be sharing a weekly writing prompt, which will involve a tune. I hope you enjoy this series. I have a diverse knowledge of music, so I'll try to mix it up quite a bit. And since I'm starting on Wednesday, we'll keep it on Wednesday.

I think being able to listen to all kinds of music for writing purposes is important. Whether it's listening to the sort of music a character would listen to, or if you're writing a period piece listening to music of that period, it's important to familiarize yourself with music that would fit within your story. That might be playing on the jukebox during a bar scene, or playing on a character's iPod. Does anybody really bother with iPods anymore?

I ask that you write your story in a reblog, that way you get to keep your story on your blog and not in my comments. When you reblog, it should show a link in the comments for us to go check out on your blog.

How it works

  • Listen to song embedded in post

  • Reblog post

  • Enter flash fiction inspired by song in reblog

  • Be esteemed by peers

Knowing Me, Knowing You

This week, and our first prompt, we have the song Knowing Me, Knowing You by ABBA. I won't say anymore on the matter, as I don't wish to taint the prompting process. Enjoy and share those stories!

  1. I want to reblog this. But I can't find a way of doing it. I checked via google. Not clear.

  2. Underneath the share icons on the post, just to the left of the WordPress Like button. Let me know if that helped.

  3. Just now I was able to activate the "follow" option. Yesterday, even this wasn't working. But I cannot locate anything to the left of the "like" button. Let me log out and log in again. Perhaps this will work.

  4. No, even logging in doesn't work. The "reblogging" link has just vanished !!

  5. Reblogged this on A Kaleidoscope World and commented:
This is an idea worth trying out. An idea that can lead you on to an idea of your own!!

  6. OK, successful at last. I can't even remember the steps I followed. But the reblogg button appeared up in the left hand corner. Let's see if you get a message.

  7. Oops, just realized I hadn't replied to any of your messages, though I had seen them. Glad it got sorted out. Guess WP was just giving you a run for the money.

  8. […] week of the Musical Writing Prompt brings us something completely different. Our first song was Knowing Me, Knowing You by ABBA. A little 1970s pop for […]
